Pulse Psychology offers Telehealth psychology appointments which is just like any other appointment you have with your therapist. The only difference is that it you can sit in the comfort of your own home, anywhere in Australia, and the appointment is conducted via Zoom (which is compliant with the Australian standards for online security and encryption) or telephone.
Technologies for TelehealtH
You will need access to a quiet, private space; a device, i.e. smartphone, laptop, iPad, computer, with a camera, microphone and speakers; and a reliable broadband internet connection.
If you have an iphone, you may be able to use Facetime for your session. For Zoom appointments, you will be sent a link to your online appointment after making your booking. If you already have Zoom loaded on your computer, clicking the provided link will open the Zoom session. Otherwise your computer will ask you to download Zoom which will only take a few minutes.
Requirements of Telehealth
Prior to your first appointment you will be sent a consent form to allocate your medicare rebate for psychological services to Pulse Psychology. It is also essential that you have a private space where you will not be disturbed for the duration of your 30-50 minute telehealth counselling consultation.
Assessment via Telehealth
We administer reliable psychometric and outcomes measures via email. The software we use graphs symptomology over time so we can gain a clear understanding of your progress in comparison to a sample of the population. The routine measurement of clinical outcomes offers significant benefits including guiding our treatment decisions and helping you recognise self-improvement and growth.
Effectiveness of Telehealth
We have engaged in specialised Telehealth training to ensure competent and effective delivery of telehealth service whilst maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Telehealth research demonstrates that it is as effective as in-person therapy for psychological treatment. If you have any concerns about using telehealth, please discuss these with us. Most services offered by Pulse psychology are available via telehealth.
Limitations of Telehealth
Limitations of telehealth A telehealth consultation may be subject to limitations such as an unstable network connection which may affect the quality of the psychology session. In addition, there may be some services for which telehealth is not appropriate or effective. Your psychologist will consider and discuss with you the appropriateness of ongoing telehealth sessions.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and we offer flexibility with after-hours and weekend appointments availability. We offer treatment and therapies to a number of mental health concerns and provide a safe environment to individuals, families, and couples needing psychological support.
